Systems Test Engineer I

About the Role

We’re looking for a System Test Engineer to join our engineering and QA team. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and execute detailed test procedures to ensure our software and hardware systems perform to the highest standards.

You’ll collaborate closely with software developers, QA engineers, and product managers to test new features, identify issues, and ensure a seamless transition of new releases into production. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience testing both software and networked hardware systems, along with a passion for building reliable, high-quality technology in an agile environment.

Note: This is an onsite role located in Sioux Falls, SD

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and document test procedures for software applications, configurations, and system solutions.

  • Design and implement test plans and automated test scripts to ensure delivery of high-quality releases.

  • Execute both manual and automated tests for software and system integrations.

  • Analyze test results, isolate defects, and perform data-mining and comparative analysis to identify root causes.

  • Provide detailed reports and interpretive analyses for technical and business stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with Operations to document and support build and upgrade procedures.

  • Work with QA, Software Engineering, and Product Management to prioritize and track defects through resolution.

  • Support alpha/beta testing, including on-site or remote customer interactions as needed.

  • Lead efforts to improve QA processes, documentation, and troubleshooting guides for new releases.

  • Be available for after-hours on-call support and occasional travel as required.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in software or system testing, including manual and automated testing.

  • Experience testing networking equipment or transient connectivity solutions (required).

  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, or similar languages, and test frameworks such as Cypress or Selenium.

  • Familiarity with device/hardware testing in connected environments.

  • Experience with JIRA, Xray, or other test management and defect-tracking tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an agile setting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CSTE certification or equivalent QA credential.

  • Proven experience leading or improving QA/testing processes.

  • Familiarity with wired and wireless networking fundamentals.
