Job Description
SONIFI® Solutions, Inc., the leader in technology solutions for the hospitality and healthcare industries, is looking to add a Manager Network Engineering to the team! The Manager, Network Engineering is responsible for effectively delivering business results, inclusive of quantity, quality, and profitability, by championing a culture of accountability and consistent best practices. The manager will be responsible for the supervision, coaching and training of the Network Engineering team to meet individual and Company performance metrics. The manager is the point person for clarifying strategic level goals for the team and outlining the execution plans to achieve them employing both a strategic as well as a tactical approach. This role works cross functionally ensuring collaboration, communication, visibility, and successful implementation of the contracted customer scope of work. The primary focus for this role is on post-sales functions, specifically network configuration implementation by directly managing the Network Engineering team focused on the Guest Internet Access business.
What you’ll do:
- Aid in the development, implementation and management of the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department.
- Plan and implement systems that perform the work and fulfill the mission and the goals of the department and company efficiently and effectively, including areas of automation for the implementation process.
- Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals.
- Develop performance metrics and reporting to measure both productivity and quality of the network engineering team.
- Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes, skillsets, and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output within the department.
- Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the network engineering team.
- Lead, develop, and manage the GIA Network Engineering group to be capable of carrying out the essential elements of the Company and departmental strategies, standards, policies, and procedures including set attainable goals and objectives and follow through to successful completion.
- Provide timely performance feedback and daily coaching. Perform company scheduled reviews and effectively manage corrective action and/or performance problems.
- Provide inspired leadership to develop a highly competent technical group of subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with multiple internal organizations to identify business requirements and communicate capabilities and concepts to deliver new products and services and support customer satisfaction.
- Compile timely, comprehensive, and accurate reports as requested.
- Actively participate in group efforts to support customer satisfaction; be willing to work on special projects as assigned.
- Facilitates resolution of critical internal, project, or customer level escalations by taking ownership of issues through resolution including ensuring that internal and external customers and stakeholders receive timely, thorough communication through resolution.
- Follow and serve as a role model in displaying SONIFI’s Core Values and Leadership Success Drivers.
- Assists in the creation and maintenance of training and support documentation for GIA Installation Technicians, Subcontractors, Field Service and Technical Assistance Center Engineers on proper site survey, installation, configuration, and support methodologies.
- Assists in the development of guidelines and documentation for network configurations to support best practices.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of network equipment, technology and concepts including but not limited to switches, routers, access points, network controllers, firewalls, data cabling, cross-connects, RF cabling, both passive and active optical networking, wireless communication protocols, network management software and other networking technologies developed.
What you’ll need:
- A four-year degree in a related technical field and four or more years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. At least two of those years must be in a supervisory role.
- Ability to understand and apply business-related concepts.
- Keeps current with new and changing technology, industry changes and trends to maintain a competitive and leading edge within the current market.
- Proficient in the use of standard office equipment, tools and software packages including the use of Ekahau Survey Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Has experience with and working knowledge of TCP/IP Addressing, subnetting and LAN/WAN configuration and network installation support.
- The person in this role must have the ability to work independently, function at a tactical and strategic level; have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate via verbal, electronic and written communication to SONIFI associates as well as to customers is a must along with the capability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical people.
- Success in this role will be for the individual to be able to perform the essential functions at a level acceptable to the company and will be expected to perform the listed tasks, duties, and responsibilities under little guidance of others.
- Demonstratable knowledge in IP-based network engineering, configuration and deployment leveraging various network distribution technologies including but not limited to switched ethernet, g.HN, Wi-Fi, and both active and passive optical solutions.
- Working knowledge of typical vendor solution offerings deployed in the markets SONIFI targets including but not limited to: Aruba Networks, CommScope Ruckus, and CISCO Meraki.
- Active, or ability to attain, vendor/industry certifications including but not limited to Ekahau Certified Solutions Engineer - Design (ECSE-D), Certified Wireless Network Associate (CWNA), Aruba Certified Associate - Campus Access (ACA-CA), Engineering Cisco Meraki Solutions 1 (ECMS1), Ruckus ICX Implementer (RICXI), and Ruckus Accredited SmartZone Administrator (RASZA) Exam or approved equivalent.
- Strong initiative, organization and follow-up skills are also required.
