Job Title: Maintenance Technician

About the Role:

Under general supervision, this role will perform a variety of general maintenance duties which include electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and repairs of the physical infrastructure of the SONIFI building and property. You will ensure systems perform at optimum functionality.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect building, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe, well-maintained conditions, identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment and/or repair.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs, replace light bulbs, ballasts, and fuses; perform basic repair of defective electrical switches, outlets, or other fixtures.
  • Basic maintenance of UPS and generators, such as resetting breakers.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance program and the supervision of maintenance sub-contractors.
  • General maintenance tasks include painting, general cleaning, basic plumbing repair, carpentry projects, moving and/or setting up furniture, and basic electrical work.
  • Program management includes fire safety inspection and recycling.
  • Responsible for maintaining the plants throughout the building.
  • Maintain SONIFI grounds (22 acres), including snow removal, trash pick-up, mowing, trimming, raking, spraying for weeds, watering, etc.
  • Safely operate a variety of machinery, equipment, tools, and hand tools.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC systems, including changing filters, etc.
  • Perform basic utility system maintenance, check water level of boilers, check and fill water softener.
  • Assist with moving, loading, and unloading and storing supplies, furniture, and equipment.
  • Basic machine and equipment maintenance, including adjusting, calibrating, and repairing equipment and machinery.
  • Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks and cardboard and trash compactors.
  • Maintain and operate company vehicles, tractor, and associated equipment in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a variety of kitchen equipment including, ovens, dishwasher, coolers, and freezers.
  • Assist in the SONIFI emergency procedures and drills.
  • Assist with SONIFI events as needed.
  • Adjustment of hours and/or weekend work may be required and/or occasional overtime
  • May require occasional on-call.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and at least two years’ experience in general maintenance is required.
  • Prior experience in basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures while using chemicals, power tools, hand tools and equipment; knowledge of proper lifting techniques; ability to operate heavy equipment; understanding of methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in maintenance, repair and electrical work is required.
  • A spray applicator license is highly desirable.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have strong manual dexterity and good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
  • Ability to learn and apply proper maintenance procedures and use of equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to follow procedures installing, testing, operating, or repairing machinery or technology systems.
  • Ability to perform work independently.
