The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of technical and professional duties in support of the Human Resources day-to-day operations, goals, and initiatives.

What you’ll do:

  • Performs post-offer, pre-hire background screen and candidate processing, including but not limited to communicating with the potential new hire and manager, submitting IT web tickets, coordinating I-9 representatives for home-based employees.
  • Conducts New Hire Orientation and administers all new hire paperwork, including the I-9 process and confirmation Initial COBRA Rights Notice sent by COBRA Administrator. Sends New Hire Survey and gathers results.
  • Maintains remote employee poster requirements with third-party administrator, reconciles renewals and pays invoices.
  • Verifies and processes all employment related paperwork (new hires, transfers, terminations, salary increases, etc.) for employees.
  • Prepares and sends terminated employee insurance packets and verifies COBRA Administrator sent COBRA packet. Sends Exit Interview email and distributes results.
  • Reconciles insurance billing statements, distributes insurance documentation, processes new hire and mid-year benefit changes, and provides support during the Open Enrollment process.  Verifies COBRA Administrator sends notices to insurance carriers to start/stop coverage and reconciles monthly remittance check.
  • Maintains employee files, establishes personnel and benefit files for new employees, and destroys files in accordance with SONIFI Retention policies.
  • Distributes New Hire and Anniversary communication pieces. Prepares information for Town Hall and other presentations.
  • Orders flowers and sends cards on behalf of SONIFI for various employee activities.
  • Completes Verification of Employment requests.
  • Assists in the planning, coordinating, and hosting of employee events throughout the year. Main United Way champion for the annual United Way campaign.
  • Maintains Org Charts and creates and sends department reports, such as Executive Summary Report and Department Dashboard.
  • Assists with various projects, goals, and initiatives throughout the year, such as Performance Management, Affirmation Action Plan, Annual Compliance Audits, Employee Events, etc.
  • Provides administrative support, assists with department faxing, filing, and shredding, records HR budget expenses and credit card expenses, manages SONIFI Classifieds, maintains supplies, coordinates employee discount tickets, and other duties as assigned.

 

What you’ll need:

  • High school diploma and two-year related degree or its equivalent and two years related Human Resources experience or combination of education/experience required.
  • Prior computer experience including human resources software, word processing and spreadsheet applications required (Dayforce, Microsoft Word and Excel applications preferred).
  • Good interpersonal and written/oral communications, organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality.
